Introducing Your DNA-Driven Wellness Program

THE SCIENCE

The Hiebert Center can literally hand you the codes to maximize your health, nutrition, appearance, fitness and well-being. Certain traits such as wrinkles, baldness, hard-to-control obesity or heart disease may “run in the family” as inherited traits that affect each individual in each generation differently. How? Using genetic testing on a simple swab of your cheek, we can analyze dozens of traits embedded uniquely in your DNA that influence how your body works, and how your diet, exercise, lifestyle habits and behaviors directly affect you — right down to the cellular level.

The result? A road map of your personal genes, as well as an individualized, concrete action plan for nutrition, exercise and more. All so you can look and feel your best, and live a longer and healthier life.

WHAT TRIGGERS AGING

Today, the three essential age-related factors — the “wall”, the “enemy” and the “regulator” — can be measured as individual identifying factors, which we can analyze, stage and treat. This understanding and approach forms the heart of the Hiebert Center for Healthy Aging.

Telomeres form the wall of prevention against disease (and aging), and have been called the “biologic clock of life.” Located at the terminal ends of each chromosome, the Telomere appears to protect and nurture stem cell DNA. However, they shorten with each successive stem cell generation until the depleted cells are unable to reproduce and ultimately die. These depleted Telomeres leave exposed the unfortified stem cells, which are then subject to the mutating effects of toxic materials, such as free radicals, resulting in DNA mutation. This is what manifests clinically as adult diseases.

Oxidative stress occurs when we over-abuse ourselves with poor diet, obesity, lack of exercise, toxic substances in the environment and other factors. Oxidative stress weakens unprotected DNA and leaves it vulnerable to attack from free radicals. This sets off a perfect storm of conditions that accelerate aging.
Mitochondria are your body’s energy factory, and have been shown to regulate the buildup and breakdown of the cellular structure. Their essential function is to produce biological energy. Mitochondria regulate the cyclic quantity of metabolic oxidation. When oxidation is high, they are associated with increased inflammation; but when it is low, it reduces inflammation.
